Most apps keep your words on their servers. Write It Up doesn't have servers for your writing at all. Your journal lives in your browser, on your device, and with the lock on it's encrypted with a passcode only you know (a longer passcode is stronger).

We made Write It Up for the nights when your thoughts won't settle and there's no one to text. We wanted a place that feels like a deep breath: no sign-up, no streaks, nothing watching. Just a quiet page, a small cat, and room to set things down.
No. Your writing is stored only in your browser, on your device. There are no accounts and no servers holding your journal, so there is nothing for us, or anyone else, to read.
Everything you wrote in that session is deleted from your device, and it was never sent anywhere. All that stays, on your device, is a note without words: the date, how much you wrote and your optional mood check-in, so you can see what helps.
No. It works in your browser straight away. You can add it to your home screen if you like, and it works offline too.
Because nothing is stored on a server, your journal lives only on that device. Export a copy from Settings any time to keep a backup.
No. Write It Up is a journaling tool. Writing about how you feel is well studied and can help a little, but it doesn’t replace talking to a person. If you’re struggling, you deserve real support, and helpline links are always one tap away in the app. Write It Up isn’t an emergency service: if you’re in danger, call your local emergency number.
Yes. Writing, keeping, letting go, prompts, a guided program and crisis helpline links are free forever. Plus ($24/year) adds the lock, all programs, insights, sounds and themes, and it's free for anyone who can't afford it.
Whatever's weighing on you, write it up.
